    The Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, located in downtown Portales, New Mexico is actively involved in partnership with its members, promoting the growth and well-being of the community. Among those partnerships are Eastern New Mexico University and Cannon Air Force Base’s 27th Special Operations Wing. Among the attractions in the area are Blackwater Draw Museum, Blackwater Site National Historic Landmark,
    the Dalley Windmill Museum and Oasis State Park.

    Every Day is Beautiful in Green Valley

    With a wide variety of events and opportunities, Green Valley has something to offer everyone. Celebrate the fun of the Minnesota State Fair with us each summer. Enjoy a scenic stroll through our many parks or play a round of golf at one of our three courses.   • The Clovis/Portales Legislative Appreciation Dinner will be held Monday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hotel Santa Fe in downtown Santa Fe. Click the image at left to register for the dinner online.

  • Business of the Month Business of the Month

    The Studio was named Business of the Month for January by the Chamber. Ambassadors and board members were on hand at the business located at 700 A E. Second Street to present the award to owner/operator Tonya Dixon. The business was cited for its sponsorship of the winner of this year’s Little Miss Merry Christmas, Shanley Thompson. That effort raised $4,000 for the Christmas Light Fund. Dixon has also been active in organizing various retail group efforts in Portales and participates in various Chamber events. The Studio features a retail store with women’s and children’s apparel, accessories and toys, hair and massage salons as well as a photography studio.

  • Volunteer of the Month Volunteer of the Month

    Don Criss was named Volunteer of the Month for January by the Chamber. Criss has volunteered his time for 40 years as the community’s Santa Claus. He began with the Mayor’s Christmas Tree then went on to help with the Portales Public Library’s Breakfast with Santa program and has served as Santa Claus in Portales’ Lighted Christmas Parade for all 31 years as well as other engagements in his red suit. At 75 he still works part-time for KENW-TV, where he produces and directs the comnunity program "You Should Know."
