Beginning April 1, 2022, Zia Radio Group will take to the airwaves, with General Manager Rick Keefer taking on the role as owner. This date marks the approval of the Federal Communications Commission to transfer the ownership of radio stations formerly known as Zia Broadcasting from Lonnie and Barbara Allsup. Keefer has served as manager of the former company since 2006. The radio group includes 5 stations, KCLV-FM, KTQM-FM, KCLV-AM, KWKA-AM of Clovis NM and KQTY-FM of Borger Texas. All calls letters and numbers on the radio dial will remain the same with the new licenses.

Rick Keefer along with his business partner David Lansford, will work to enhance efforts to expand the local service and programming to grow the iconic stations. Keefer states, “We will return with promotions to make radio even more fun.”

Last year Keefer was expecting to retire but realized he didn’t want to stop doing what he loved most; provide entertainment and information to the area. Keefer, along with Lansford who has been our Voice of the Wildcats for sports, decided to take advantage of the business offer.

Zia Radio Group will continue to offer the most cost-effective way to market your business or event.” Keefer continued, “Many don’t realize, but 89% of people listen to local radio weekly. We still provide our service free of charge to every listener.

New owner Keefer has been working full time in the radio industry since 1973. He along with Lansford will bring nearly 50 years of experience in ownership, management, programming, and engineering to the new group.

Keefer concludes, “It’s a great time to begin some new programming options. I’m looking forward to it.”
