Clovis, New Mexico – The Human Services Department (HSD), in collaboration with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Purchasing Collaborative and on behalf of the Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD), is pleased to announce the award of a contract to Mental Health Resources, Inc. (MHR).
This prestigious partnership will see MHR at the forefront of an endeavor to implement a Community Crisis Partner (CCP) model and establish an Alternative Crisis Triage Center (CTC). The CCP initiative introduces ground-breaking strategies for CTCs in our rural and frontier communities. This innovative approach guarantees safe, consistent, and sustainable access to vital behavioral health crisis services, leveraging the knowledge and resources closer to individuals in need.
In close collaboration with Plains Regional Medical Center (PRMC) and Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH), MHR Community Crisis Partner Teams have ushered in a new era of mental health care. In their partnership model, mental health crisis triage situations are met and assessed in a secure face-to-face setting in the hospital. MHR's Licensed Master Level therapists provide consultation regarding the criteria for imminent danger to oneself or others and in cases involving psychiatric impairment due to psychosis. MHR therapists will make an educated recommendation for the client to be placed in inpatient psychiatric services, or if that level of care is not needed, the therapist will craft an individualized safety plan with discharge instructions. MHR makes every effort to engage these clients with community-based counseling services post-crisis to ensure the highest level of continuity of care.
Chair of PRMC Board of Trustees, Lonnie Leslie, voiced his excitement for the project via a letter of support, stating, "We consider the current process a successful partnership that has significantly reduced mental health crises in Curry County and Clovis, New Mexico. We are committed to continuing this invaluable partnership under the CCP model of Crisis Triage."
Another healthcare leader in the community, Kaye Green, CEO of RGH, also hails this partnership as a resounding success in curbing crises within the Portales community, solidifying RGH’s commitment to the CCP model of mental health Crisis Triage.
