• Mix 107.5 hosts to step down

Clovis, August 12, 2014:  Rooney Moon Broadcasting Inc announces that local radio announcers Steve Rooney and Duffy Moon, hosts of the Mix Morning Show on Mix 107.5 KSMX-FM, will be retiring from morning radio after twelve years behind the microphone.  The team will host their final broadcast on August 29, 2014.  Rooney and Moon began broadcasting the morning show on Mix 107.5 on September 23, 2002 and have been an integral part of the communities of the high plains of Eastern New Mexico and West Texas.

Rooney and Moon have hosted the annual Secret Santa program that has provided Christmas gifts, Christmas trees and holiday food to hundreds of families across the listening area. They are also committed to the military service members of the community. The pair made trips to Iraq, Japan and Guam to visit local service members stationed in those locations and deliver memorabilia from home.  They were also a driving force in the “Keep Cannon” rally, when Cannon Air Force Base was placed on the military base closure list in 2005 and visited with congressional leaders in an effort to keep Cannon Air Force Base viable.

Rooney and Moon also made national news when they prompted listeners to help provide a prom for the junior class at Dora High School, NM, after the class donated their prom money to the family of a classmate that passed away in a car accident.  The efforts of the morning show team were highlighted in the May 4, 2004 edition of People magazine.

Following Rooney and Moon’s departure, the morning show on Mix 107.5 will be hosted by D.B. Nyce, a radio professional with ten years experience in the broadcast industry.  He will be joined by Amber Kaye as co-host, Casey Peacock from the news desk and Donald “Doc” Elder with sports.

Morning show host Steve Rooney said, “It’s time for us to create a situation where we can begin to grow our company from our home base in Eastern New Mexico, and our broadcast careers have evolved to being better hosts to the audience on our Greatest Hits station, Q101.5, KRMQ.”

Rooney and Moon will return to the radio on KRMQ-FM, 101.5 for an afternoon show beginning October 9, 2014. In addition to their on-air responsibilities, Steve Rooney and Duffy Moon are the owners of Rooney Moon Broadcasting Inc, and KSMX-FM, KRMQ-FM, KSEL-FM and KSEL-AM.
