Heritage Days dates announced
The 30th annual Heritage Days is scheduled for June 20-21 in Portales. Most of the activities take place at City Park and the Memorial Building.
Heritage Days will feature a fun run, car show, motorcycle rally, food and craft booths and live music in the park. The event will also honor area pioneers on Saturday afternoon. One of the most popular events, the parade, will return to the traditional route that has been interrupted the last two years by construction. It will start at 10 a.m. at Second and Ave. O and travel east on Second to Abilene and then to the park.
“Heritage Days Saturday is normally the third Saturday in June,” said Roosevelt County Chamber Executive Director Karl Terry. “Because that date was so late in the month we tried to move the date up a week but in the end numerous conflicts brought us back to the original date. Some materials went out with the wrong date and we apologize for the confusion.”
The Chamber is accepting vendor applications as well as parade, car show and motorcycle rally entries at the Chamber office at 100 S. Ave A or online at portales.com. For more information call 356-8541.
