“It is the Authority’s goal to discuss near-term and future options and viable strategies to complete this essential project for our region,” advised ENMWUA Chairperson Gayla Brumfield. “We would especially like to invite area residents to join us to participate in this important workshop.”
The Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System (ENMRWS) project includes a water intake facility to divert surface water from Ute Reservoir including a water treatment facility, 90 miles of water supply pipes, and 60 miles of lateral pipes to assist in serving the future water needs of Grady, Melrose, Texico, Clovis, Portales, Elida, Curry County, Roosevelt County and Cannon Air Force Base. Its purpose is to address municipal and industrial water supply challenges resulting from the declining and deteriorating groundwater resources located in the Ogallala Aquifer.
