RGH Café Closed to the Public During COVID-19 Pandemic

PORTALES, NM, March 19, 2020Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) is taking precautions to safeguard patients, visitors and staff against the spread of COVID-19. Beginning this morning, the RGH Café will no longer be open to the community for dining.  Closure to the public came on the heels of the recently modified public health order, which went into effect today.

The public health order mandates that food establishments must close to dine-in customers; (only take-out and home delivery are permitted).  Therefore, as of today, RGH Café will not be open to the public for dine-in. Signs have been posted at both entryways to the cafeteria regarding this mandate.  The door from the café to the outdoor patio is now locked and is only available by employee badge access.

The cafeteria is a designated employee break room and this allows for employees to continue receiving their meals for the café. However, tables should not seat more than six persons at a time and tables have been placed six feet apart to adhere to the mandate.

Patients will not be affected by the newly updated mandate and will continue to receive dietary services as normal.

“At this time, those who accompany patients to the hospital will be permitted to visit the RGH Café,” stated Jeanette Orrantia, Director of Marketing, Public Relations and Planning for Roosevelt General Hospital.  “But as each day progresses, more adjustments may be made.”
