• COVID-19 resources update

    October 15, 2020
We all want to keep our community "Open for Business" but we're facing concerning situations in our local hospital and schools right now. We want to make sure our residents are able to get the care they need for COVID-19 or any other health concerns and we want our children to be able to eventually go back to face to face learning as quickly as possible. The NM Hospital Association has shared updates that larger regional hospitals, located in both New Mexico and Texas are at or near capacity; which limits options to someone needing advanced care locally that needs a transfer. We can and need to all work together to protect our limited health care resources. Here's some resources for us all.
    1. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) offers resources and guidance for businesses at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/guidance-business-response.html.
    2. Attached here are the latest handouts from the NM Department of Health and other fliers, posters and handouts are available online to print as you may need. For Spanish click here.
Some have asked for clarification in regards to isolation versus quarantine. Isolate if you are sick (do not assume it is just a cold or allergies) or test positive for COVID-19. Quarantine if you are at risk of having been exposed or have had close contact with someone with COVID-19. The Portales Public Health Office continues to offer free drive thru testing Monday-Friday 8:15 am – 11:15 am. Anyone wanting to be tested can register online at https://cvtestreg.nmhealth.org/ or contact the Public Health Office at 575.356.4453. Public Health will administer tests to anyone wishing to be tested, regardless of symptoms.
