• Portales MainStreet to receive grant

    April 27, 2017
The New Mexico Resiliency Alliance (NMRA) has awarded 17 communities in New Mexico for 2017, with all but two being MainStreet Communities. Portales MainStreet Program is a recipient of this opportunity and plans to use the funds as a match for the "Challenge Grant". NMRA will match a max of $4,000 in new funds raised by Portales MainStreet.

In conjunction to this grant New Mexico MainStreet awarded free technical service from Revitalization Specialist of Organization Amy Barnhart to Portales MainStreet. According to Executive Director Sandy Vigil, Ms. Barnhart has already met once with the Board of Directors this year, "We are excited to have a follow up meeting with Amy and really understand how to create a successful fundraising campaign. As a non-profit our organization relies heavily on contributions to help us move forward with successful projects. Portales MainStreet is an affiliate of New Mexico MainStreet and we aim to become accredited by the end of 2017".

To be accredited with New Mexico MainStreet the organization needs to be meet Ten Standards set forth by the national program. Portales MainStreet's Board of Directors have already overcome one hurdle to be accredited, and this opportunity from NMRA will help the organization achieve accreditation status with the state and national programs.
