Enlightened Horsemanship Added to Expo Activities

Portales, NM —After a Jeep accident left him a paraplegic, Michael Richardson developed a new approach to horsemanship; a better and more positive way to communicate with horses. Richardson, from Hico, Texas, has been interested in equine from a young age and truly wants to train each horse he works with to be a successful partner to its rider.

It is vital to create a harmonious relationship between horse and rider and this is what Richardson strives for. He helps each rider better understand their horse so they can both fulfill their potential.

For one of his exercises, Richardson uses the horse as a metaphor as he runs the audience through a series of exercises designed to make them think about their own choices, and bring out their ability. An interactive session working through the needs of the group by using a horse in a round pen will also take place. Lessons learned can be applied to basic horsemanship skills, along with life in general.

The Enlightened Horsemanship Series will take place in the Show Arena Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This year’s Expo is being sponsored by Farmer’s Paxton Insurance and Plateau Wireless.
