Jan 31, 2008 New Mexico Ag Expo Celebrating its 16th Year Portales, NM —The 16th Annual New Mexico Agricultural Expo, slated for Feb. 26-27, 2008, is expected to draw more exhibitors and spectators into Portales this year than ever before. Sponsored by Farmer’s Paxton Insurance Agency and Plateau Wireless, this year’s event will be dedicated to Chester Harth. Harth, who passed away last July, was active in planning the Ag Expo for 14 years and served as the chair on two separate occasions. Last year, Harth worked diligently with other committee members to initiate dairy seminars and lectures. Planning for the state’s premier agricultural trade show has been underway for several months as vendor registrations roll in. The Roosevelt County Cooperative Extension Office has organized this year’s educational seminars and demonstrations again and will offer a variety of opportunities for attendees. More than 170 booths with 400 exhibitors are expected to attend this year’s show. Displays of products and services providing the latest in technology to the agriculture industry will highlight the show. Vendors from the Women’s Building will be relocated to the Merchant’s Building due to space restraints. Attendance at the 2007 Ag Expo exceeded 4,000 people. Patrick Kircher, Roosevelt County Extension Agent, is “looking forward to the opportunity to provide another outstanding Expo for residents of eastern New Mexico and west Texas.” Activities at the Expo will include an antique tractor parade and games, a horsemanship clinic, working dog trials, and chuck wagon lunches on both days. or booth information, call the Portales/Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce by calling 575.356.8541 or 800.635.8036, email the Expo at events@portales.com or check out the Ag Expo website at www.nmagexpo.com.
