New Mexico Ag Expo Celebrating its 15th Year

Portales, NM — The 15 th Annual New Mexico Agricultural Expo, slated for Feb. 27-28, 2007, is expected to draw more exhibitors and spectators into Portales this year than ever before. The event highlights New Mexico’s agricultural industry, with a special focus this year on the dairy industry.

The show, sponsored by Plateau Wireless, continues to grow each year by maintaining its original mission to connect New Mexico’s agricultural industry with the latest in technology and service.

Planning for the state’s premier agricultural trade show is already underway as vendor registrations begin rolling in. The Roosevelt County Cooperative Extension Office will be organizing this year’s educational seminars and demonstrations again and offering a variety of opportunities for attendees. Dr. Robert Hagevoort, dairy specialist, has organized several seminars for dairy employees, as well as owners.

More than 170 booths with 400 exhibitors are expected to attend this year’s show. Displays of products and services providing the latest in technology to the agriculture industry will highlight the show.

According to Event Manager, Sharon King, most vendors come year after year. “However, we already have some first-time vendors coming for the 2007 Expo,” she said.

Activities at the Expo will include an antique tractor parade with games, a dairy heifer sale, educational dairy seminars and demonstrations, and a chuck wagon lunch. Diane Lieb has organized many exciting events in the Woman’s Building again this year, including live entertainment, a fashion show, a quilt show, vendors and demonstrations.
