New Mexico Ag Expo 2007 will host Spanish and English Dairy Seminar Series

Portales, NM — With the rapidly growing dairy industry continuously expanding in Eastern New Mexico and now especially in West Texas, new cheese plants being developed and constructed, and more and more dairy families calling this part of the Southwest home, it is no wonder the New Mexico AgExpo is interested in growing the dairy emphasis at the show.

This year will be the 15 th celebration of this annual event which has grown much like the local dairy industry. Besides the estimated more than 400 vendors which will be displaying their products and services, this year’s AgExpo will host a series of Dairy Seminars in Spanish for dairy workers, as well as in English for owners and managers.

On Tuesday February 27 th starting at 10:00am through 1:00pm the organizers have lined up three seminars in Spanish for dairy workers dealing with three topics ranging from proper milking techniques, insemination techniques and fresh cow management. These seminars will be educational and focus on employee training. Lunch will be provided to the participants by one of the sponsors of the event. On Wednesday February 28 th, the Seminar Series held in English geared towards dairy owners and managers will deal with topics including: immigration issues, where is the profit in the dairy industry, and an overview of the Dairy Industry for 2007, hosted by Dairy Farmers of America.

An added new feature at this years AgExpo is that the Dairy Seminar Series will be hosted in an especially for this event organized pavilion, heated and able to accommodate a larger group of attendees expected to participate in these events. With the Texas and New Mexico dairy industries combined expected to reach the number three spot in the nation behind the major dairy states like California and Wisconsin in the year 2010, there is no reason for the New Mexico AgExpo in Portales not to become a major player as the farm trade show of the Southwest.
