New Mexico's Agricultural Expo to be held Portales, NM — The New Mexico Ag Expo, sponsored by The New Mexico Ag Expo, sponsored by Hamilton Automotive Group (GM Country, Big Country Ford) and Plateau Wireless, will be held Feb.22-23, 2005 at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds in Portales, NM. The Expo is New Mexico's premier agricultural trade show featuring more than 400 exhibitors and 8,000 spectators. "In celebrating our 13th anniversary for the New Mexico Ag Expo we are once again giving away a 16-foot brand new bright red livestock trailer," said Nancy Gentry, sponsorship Chairman for Ag Expo Committee. "You can register to win the trailer by visiting vendors located throughout the show grounds." All of the major expo sponsorship logos are displayed on the trailer. Spectators must be at least 18 years or older and present to register. Admission to the Ag Expo is free and door prize tickets can be picked up at the gate. Floyd McAlister, Roosevelt County Extension Program Director, is busy arranging for interesting and informative seminars and demonstrations. This year's schedule promises to offer the latest in educational seminars and continuing educational units. New Mexico State University's Extension Dairy Specialist Dr. Hillary Sullivan will lead seminars on composting animal carcasses and reducing manure nutrients in dairy waste. The composting seminar will help inform and educate dairymen and ranchers to understand processes for decomposing animals on farm in an approved and safe environment. This seminar is sponsored by Southwest Cheese. Several other seminars will be included into the expo program. "The exhibitors tell us that they sell more here per number of attendees than any other show they go to," McAlister stated. Exhibitor booth spaces are still available for the Expo. Inside booths are $325 for a 10-by-10 foot space. Outside spaces are $350 for a 20-by-30 foot space or $375 for a 30-by-80 foot space. For more information regarding an exhibitor booth or attendance information, contact Pat Willis at the Expo office by calling (800) 635-8036 or e-mail the expo at chamber@portales.com. |
