New Mexico Agricultural Expo Continues Rich Tradition

Portales, NM—With the strong impact of agriculture on the economy of the state, the New Mexico Agricultural Expo, sponsored by sponsored by Plateau Wireless and Hamilton Automotive Group (GM Country, Big Country Ford), continues to thrive as the state's premier trade show for the 13th consecutive year. With a reach of over a hundred-mile radius, thousands of dairymen, ranchers and farmers attend the trade show to view the latest technological and industrial advancements and complete continuing education seminars.

"We have one of the most intense and prime locations for an agricultural trade show," said New Mexico State University County Extension Agricultural Agent Floyd McAlister. "The Expo brings in the latest technology and services so those in attendance can utilize them in their operations." The Ag Expo continues to grow each year by maintaining its focus on its original mission to connect New Mexico's agricultural industry with the latest in technology and service. "When agriculture does well, the rest of the communities in the state do well," McAlister added.

McAlister is responsible for scheduling the seminars and demonstrations. This year's show will include a variety of new seminars and demonstrations offering several educational opportunities for attendees. Informative programs include: Parelli Horse-Man-Ship demonstrations, Animal Identification, Pesticide and Chemical Use, Vertebrate Pest Management, New EPA CAFO Regulations, and other timely topics. Several of the seminars offer continuing educational units.
Other fun activities at the Expo include antique tractor parades and games, a Chuck Wagon steak-fry lunch, and an entertaining Women's Building with booths, a quilt show, style show, and informative programs for the ladies.
Planning for the state's premier agricultural trade show is already well underway as vendor registrations are rolling in. "The exhibitors tell us that they sell more here per number of attendees than any other show they go to," McAlister said.
Over its 13-year history, the New Mexico Agricultural Expo has proven to be successful for both the exhibitors and the attendees – and this year will continue that proud tradition. Spectators at this year's show will have an opportunity to win a brand-new 16-foot stock trailer. Registration for the drawing will be available at the show and is free to the public (you must be 18 years or older and present to register).

With the continuing dominance of the agricultural industry throughout the state, over 400 vendors will fill their booths with products, technological advancements and services. Portales will host the 13th Annual New Mexico Agricultural Expo on February 22–23. Attendance to the 2005 show is expected to be in the range of 8,000 agricultural buyers.

Exhibitor booth spaces are still available for the Expo. Inside booths are $325 for a 10-by-10 foot space. Outside spaces are $350 for a 20-by-30 foot space or $375 for a 30-by-80 foot space.
