Women's Building and New Seminars Offer Diversity

Portales, N.M. -- The New Mexico Ag Expo, Feb. 26 & 27, sponsored by New Mexico Bank and Trust and Plateau Wireless, offers new seminars and demonstrations along with an entire building filled with enticing booths offering a more diversified Expo for the entire family.

The Women's Building hosts vendors representing a varied non-agricultural related booth displays. Vendors will have western artwork, antiques, western décor, candles, cookware, home décor, make-up, woodcrafts, paintings and much more on display and to sell.

"Our building is geared toward any type of family event--gift giving, self-giving and home decor," Bargas said. "The building is just a beautiful and pleasant experience for anyone who attends the Ag Expo." Bargas added that a complete schedule of events, seminars and demonstrations would be available on the Expo grounds.

Tumbleweed Trading Post has been a participant for the past several years according to owner Nicki McCallie. Her booth will feature antique western home décor and western designed iron bits and pieces.

"I have vibrant colors and my booth is right up front by the big doors that seem to pull people that are walking outside into the building," McCallie said. "The follow up business I have received has been great and it has really helped advertise my business to attendees from all over New Mexico and West Texas."

A new addition to the Women's Building will be Connie Moyers' demonstration. Moyers is the extension home economist for Roosevelt County. Her demonstration entitled Cooking Ahead for One, Two, or a Crew will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Moyers' program will include recipes and demonstrations for dishes that can be cooked ahead and are heart healthy.

"I'll talk about food preparation and cooking while doing the live demonstration," Moyers said. "Everyone will get to sample the dishes and there will be a recipe booklet available for purchase."

Admission is free to the Ag Expo and spectators can register to win a 16' stock trailer. Over 450 exhibitors are expected to attend offering the latest advancements and products made throughout the agricultural industry.
