EXHIBITORS HIGHLIGHT INDUSTRY ADVANCEMENTS

Portales, NM—The 10th Annual New Mexico Agricultural Expo, sponsored by New Mexico Bank & Trust and Plateau Wireless, will showcase the latest technological advancements for the agricultural industry Feb. 26-27. The Expo draws thousands of ag-related businessmen from across New Mexico and West Texas to the Roosevelt County Fair Grounds. Reaching over a hundred-mile span, hundreds of farmers attend the trade show to view the newest products and changing trends in technology for the farming industry.

“I attend trade shows and expos nation-wide and no other show has the friendly atmosphere of the New Mexico Ag Expo,” said Jim Blanton, an independent dealer for Amsoil. “I’ve done well for the size of show and if I had to choose another place to live—I would choose Portales. Everyone in the city is so friendly, they truly make the show what it is.”

Blanton has been an independent dealer for Amsoil for the past 10 years. Amsoil specializes in synthetic oils. The first accepted synthetic oil of their line was 10W-40. Blanton looks to showcase 15W-40 diesel engine oil at the Ag Expo next month.

This oil has a type of filtration system that refines and cleans oil by removing contaminants.

“We’ve ran an over-the-road semi 409,000 miles containing our oil and then took the truck back to the dealership for an independent inspection to find the oil had not allowed any damage to the engine,” Blanton said. “This is an American made product that will help reduce dependence on foreign oil, which is good for America, the environment and the consumers.”

With the continuing dominance of the agricultural industry throughout the region, over 400 vendors will provide specialized products and services for over 8,000 agricultural buyers in attendance.

Billy McClenney, sales manager for Frontier Hybrids, will be showcasing one of their newest hybrids for corn ensilage along with other sorghums, grazers, native grasses and small grain hybrids.

“The F3250 hybrid was released last year and is an excellent variety. It is a 117 day corn, with a 7-9 foot growth producing high tonnage,” McClenney said. “It features a flex ear, great stalk and root strength and lots of stay green.”

As the Ag Expo continues to grow each year, many vendors find their annual attendance beneficial. Gary Hatch, owner of Enviro-Ag, will be attending the Expo for his ninth consecutive year.

“We pick up business every year along with friends and acquaintances,” Hatch added.
Enviro-Ag specializes in bioremediation and treats dairy lagoons, implements beneficial insects such as ladybugs to crops, and specializes in the usage of other helpful bacteria. Hatch utilizes these special bacteria for crop soil treatment to enhance fertilizers used by farmers through insect modification of various nutrients while conditioning the soil.
Exhibitor booth spaces are still available for the Expo and the deadline for an exhibitor to be listed in the directory is Friday, Jan. 25.

“Many vendors have already signed up for this year’s Expo,” said Janine Elder, exhibitor registration director. “With booth spaces filling up so rapidly, vendors interested in attending the show are encouraged to complete their applications and mail or fax them to the Expo office as soon as possible.”
