Education and Schools
ortales has excellent educational opportunities available to the public, from a private Christian school to the Portales Municipal Schools.
There are four elementary schools in Portales including the new Lindsey/Steiner school completed in 2010. There is one junior high and one high school in the city as well.
Portales Municipal Schools has adopted the belief that “All students will be productive and successful citizens.” Consequently, Portales Municipal Schools has resolved that “All students will be provided a Quality Education.”
Eastern New Mexico University is the third largest state supported institution of higher learning. With branches in Roswell and Ruidoso, NM, courses of study vary from aviation maintenance to education to archaeology.
